12-Aug-2011 - Horsehay Juniors Success!
Horsehay Village Golf Club’s Junior team have won the Shropshire & Herefordshire Junior Handicap League, bringing the club it’s first county team title.
The team led by Junior Captain and 2011 County Boys Champion, Sean Graham, beat Arscott Golf Club 6 - 0 in the morning semi-final held at Oswestry Golf Club. In the afternoon’s final they defeated Shifnal Golf Club 4 – 2 to lift the prestigious county shield.
Sean’s team of Harry Burt (2011 County Youth Champion), Lewis Armstrong, James Ford, Trey Niven and Joe Ruston were supported on the day by reserves Blake Cloughley and Alex Brown. Congratulations should also go to James Brothwood, Lewis Horobin, Lewis Jameson and Molly Barker who have also played their part in team matches throughout the season.
Thanks should go to Team Manager Ian Allsop, Assistant Team Manager Mike Ford, Professional Matt Lea and Assistant–Pro Ben Hughes for the work they have put in to create the most successful Junior team in the two counties. The Juniors will now be travelling to Woodhall Spa next weekend to represent Shropshire and Herefordshire in the English Junior Club Championships.
